Should I kill him??

by hf148 @ 27.04.2007 - 20:31:36

There is an intruder in my kitchen, dressed entirely in grey. I have named him Charlie.

Charlie is a mouse who appears to have taken up residence behind my washing machine. He comes out at night when I am blogging too furiously to notice. When I first saw him, he made me extremely nervous, and I am sure I made him feel just as scared. But he and I seem to be used to one another now. In fact, I quite look forward to his nocturnal visits.

So I am starting to feel decidedly uncomfortable about the mouse trap in the corner. It has become something of a moral dilemma- should I kill this inoffensive, harmless creature? I just don’t think I have it in me.

We had a mouse who took up residence in the dishwasher last year. Luckily we have a large white cat who eats rabbits when he fancies a snack.

Would you like to borrow him? :) (It helps when they eat them afterwards - very quick) ...

If he doesn't bother you, don't kill him. Why engage in senseless cruelty simply because you are trained by society in order to think that every mouse/rat/spider you see you must kill?

Have a heart, save a life. Who knows? you might re-incarnate as a mouse one day hahaha ^^

Although if he's a risk to public health (your health) or your friends start thinking you're weird for having a mouse in your house then I guess you can either capture it and keep it as a pet. capture it and release it somewhere. or... kill it i guess =/

hmmm... I think I might try one of those traps where you can free them after they are caught. Charlie has invited his friends over and there are now three of them! How rude!

Ah, much as I love them they can be annoying, like when they're doing Riverdance in the ceiling above your bed. Try the hedgewitch's way - burn sage around your home, and ask the little darlings if they wouldn't mind moving to a nice new residence, like a shed or barn, where they will be warm and dry and won't inconvenience you.

They will hate the smell of the burning sage so much that they will be only too glad to oblige.
